PURPOSE:To make an image as close as possible to an intended image of a user even when the variable power rate exceeds the limit value by changing the calculated variable power rate to a critical variable power rate nearest to the calculated variable power rate when the calculated variable power rate exceeds the range of specified critical variable power rate. CONSTITUTION:When a copy button is depressed despite a warning to indicate that designated range by cursors 18, 19, 23, 24 is out of allowable range is given through a display panel 35, image outputting is made at an allowable variable power nearest to the calculated variable power rate by the position of the cursor which is a designating device. When the range of designation is changed to a size of changeable variable power by the cursor basing on the warning, variable power for the extent designated by the cursor is changed automatically to full size of a recording paper and outputted.
