PURPOSE:To titled material, obtained by coating one surface of a paper base material having a specific delamination strength value or above with an adhesive without causing splitting of the base material in peeling the material for an application surface with a small coating amount of the adhesive without requiring a peeling layer on the back surface. CONSTITUTION:A surface protecting material obtained by coating one surface of a paper base material having >=50g/50mm delamination strength according to JIS P-8139, preferably >=20 sec surface smoothness on the surface coated with the adhesive and <=240 sec on the back surface according to JIS P-8119, e.g. kraft paper or rolled paper, with the adhesive to give 3-50g/m<2> adhesive solid content and form a coating layer.
