PURPOSE:To reduce the thermal loss and improve an efficiency of combustion by a method wherein a thermal holding cover composed of ceramics is formed on an inner wall surface of a burner case. CONSTITUTION:A fuel gas flow inlet port 3 is formed at the bottom part of a burner case 2 composed of a heat-resistant metal having a thermal holding cover 1 composed of ceramics such as Al2O3 SiO2, ZrO2 or the like in the inner wall surface. Then, a net-like spacer 4, a thermal holding material 5 composed of heat-resistant ceramic fibrous molding substance, a preheater 6 composed of a Nichrome heater wire, a combustion catalyst body 7 having oxidation catalyst such as platinum metal etc. in a heat-resistant porous ceramic fibrous assembly and a holding net 8 composed of a heat-resistant porous ceramic fibrous assembly are mounted in sequence at the downstream side of the fuel gas flow at the fuel gas flow inlet port 3. In this way, an outer circumference of the combustion catalyst 7 and a metallic surface of the burner case 2 are spaced apart by the ceramic thermal holding film 1, so that a calorie discharged from the burner case 2 to the surrounding atmosphere is reduced and the efficiency of the combustion is improved.
