PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording material enhanced in handleability and running property, by incorporating a cellulose powder and an oil-absorptive pigment having an oil absorption not less than a specified value in a thermal recording layer and/or on the surface of the layer. CONSTITUTION:A cellulose powder and an oil-absorptive pigment having an oil absorption according to JIS K-5101 of not less than 30 ml/100g are incorporated in a thermal recording layer and/or on the surface of the layer, in a thermal recording material wherein a thermal recording layer comprising microcapsules containing a color former and an organic solvent as core substances and a color developer is provided on a base, the walls of the microcapsules being impermeable to both the color former and the color developer at room temperature but becoming permeable to at least one of th color former and the color developer when being heated, thereby giving a developed color image. The particle size of the cellulose powder is particularly important, and is so set that not less than 90% of the power pass through a 250 mesh-sieve according to a wet-type sieve analysis. The coating amount of the powder is not less than 0.2g/m<2>. The amount of the pigment used in combination with the cellulose powder is 0.1-10pts.wt. per 1pts.wt. of the microcapsules. |
