PURPOSE:To uniformize the thickness of an entire coating film regardless of the amount of a received coating solution, by making it possible to reduce the speed of the driving means of a running body having a coating solution received therein during the time from the start of coating to the final point of coating. CONSTITUTION:An article 12 to be coated is sucked onto a coating stand and a running body 13 is set to one end part thereof. After a coating solution 16 comprising a substance to be coated is received in the pocket of the running body 13, a drive means is started. The coating solution 16 is flowed out onto the article 12 to be coated fom the gap G provided to the lower end of the blade 15 positioned in the downstream side of a running direction with the running of the running body 13 and a uniform coating film with a thickness hw corresponding to the dimension of the gap G is formed. In this case, because head pressure is different between a time when the pocket 17 is filled and a time when a residual amount is reduced, the coating speed U of the coating solution is lowered in matching relation to the depth of the coating solution 16 reduced during coating.
