PURPOSE:To shorten an ineffective holding time caused by a fact that the other party is busy at automatic dial transmission, and to improve the utilization efficiency by deciding that the other party is busy by detecting a busy tone in the course of a response monitor time after dialing, and opening a line, based on this decision. CONSTITUTION:When the telephone number of the other party is inputted from an operating part 8 and an automatic dial transmitting function is selected, a line connecting circuit 2 and a line switching circuit 3 are operated by a control signal from a control part 7, and a line input 1 is connected to an automatic dialing circuit 12. Thereafter, a collision is monitored for a some prescribed time by a collision/response monitoring circuit 5, and in case a collision has occurred, the line connecting circuit 2 is operated by a signal from the control part 7 and the line connection is opened. In case no collision has occurred, a dial tone is sent out of a dial tone sending-out circuit 6, and subsequently, a busy tone detection and a response monitor are executed for a some prescribed time by a busy tone detecting circuit 4 and the collision/response monitoring circuit 5, respectively.
