PURPOSE:To increase bonding strength between a catalyst layer of air electrode and a water repellent film by coating a catalyst sheet with an aqueous dispersion of polytetrafluoroethylene, and pressing a water repellent film comprising polytetrafluoroethylene against the catalyst sheet. CONSTITUTION:Manganese oxide, activated carbon, carbon black, and an aqueous dispersion of fluorine resin are kneaded, and a screen 5-2 is coated with the mixture to form a catalyst sheet 5-1. One side of the catalyst sheet 5-1 is coated with a polytetrafluoroethylene aqueous dispersion 11, and they are dried, then a water repellent film 4 comprising porous polytetrafluoroethylene film is placed thereon. They are pressed with a pair of rollers 12 and 13, in which the roller 12 is lined with rubber 14, to manufacture an air electrode. A button type air cell is assembled with this air electrode. By strengthening bonding between the catalyst layer and the water repellent film, the dispersion of density is eliminated, and leakage resistance and discharge performance are increased. |
