PURPOSE:To eliminate a special ink gathering device, by a method wherein each ink gathering part in each nozzle head is solidly installed, ink being sucked only from the nozzle head in which bubbles are generated and the sucked ink is gathered in each nozzle head. CONSTITUTION:When, for instance, bubbles are generated in magenta ink and a nozzle head 1m does not jet in the color ink jet printer having plural number of nozzle heads, a carrier base 2 is transferred and the nozzle head 1m is opposed to a purge mechanism part 100. Then, the concave part 1a of the nozzle 10 of the nozzle head 1m and the aperture part on the open air side of a suction pipe 32 are covered with the cap 101 of purge mechanism part 100. When the air in an ink gathering part 30 is sucked with a suction pump 103, a valve 22 is closed and a valve 35 is opened. Then, the concave part 1a of nozzle 10 becomes of negative pressure and the ink 21 in an ink tank 20 is sucked. The bubbles in a nozzle pipe 11 together with ink 21 are discharged into the ink gathering part 30. |
