PURPOSE:To prevent a picture from flickering, to execute quickly a color synchronization, and to prevent disorder of a color on the picture, by providing a means for muting a reproducing video signal, when a head moves to other track, and a means for adding a color synchronizing signal for a color signal to a signal through the muting means and outputting it. CONSTITUTION:When executing a reproduction, a switch SW1 is connected to a reproducing amplifier 7 side by a control signal S-2 from a system controller 15, and a video signal S-4 which has been reproduced by a magnetic head 5 is inputted to the reproducing amplifier 7, a demodulator 8 and an encoder 9. The encoder 9 receives an SC S-8 from a synchronizing system circuit 14, and executes a processing for encoding a chroma signal. Also, a color synchronizing signal which has been formed by a BF S-9 which is outputted from the system controller 15 is applied to the demodulated video signal S-4, and in the same way, a character signal S-5 which is outputted from the system controller 15 is multiplexed to the video signal. It is used, for instance, for displaying a data, time, a track, etc. on a part of the picture.
