PURPOSE:To process a program trace by small labor and memory capacity, by tracing only a branch address which appears for the first time to a trace memory the branch of a microprogram is generated in case of debugging a program. CONSTITUTION:An address counter 15 is driven and reads out the contents from a trace memory 16, compares them with a branch address in a branch address store register 14 by an arithmetic circuit 17, and only when the coincidence with the contents of the address register 14 does not exist in the memory 16, the contents of the register 14 are written. A register 18 is added by '1' whenever the branch address which appears for the first time in the memory 16 is written, and at the time of the write operation of the memory 16, the value of the register 18 is set to the counter 15, and it becomes an address for writing the contents of the address register 14 to the memory 16. After a trace use subroutine program is processed, the following microprogram is read out successively from a microprogram memory 11 and executed by a sequence controller 10.
