INSTRUMENT FOR MEASURING DEPOSITED QUANTITY IN VERTICAL FURNACE

PURPOSE:To enable the quantity of an accumulation in a furnace to be quickly and accurately measured by a simple and easy-to-maintain construction by deflecting microwaves from a plurality of transmitting elements by giving the microwaves phase differences, irradiating the microwaves over the whole surface of the accumulation and receiving the reflected microwaves. CONSTITUTION:The phases of microwaves from a plurality of transmitting elements of a receiver/transmitter 64 are controlled by a phase control signal source 68 and the microwaves are converted to a directional microwave with a different deflection due to the interferences among the microwaves with different phases. The directional microwave is reflected by a reflecting plate 63 and irradiated onto the accumulation of coke 2 and the like in a furnace over the whole area of the surface. The microwave reflected from the coke 2 is received by the receiver/transmitter 64 and the result of a timing until the time when the microwave is received and the direction of the microwave are determined, which are supplied to a profile calculator 65 and the configuration of the surface and the quantity both the coke accumulation and the like are displayed on a display 66. Thus, the quantity of the accumulation in the furnace is quickly and accurately measured by a simple and easy-to-maintain construction without the necessity of moving a prove in the furnace and the like.
