PURPOSE:To enable shortening of machining time for one cam shaft by performing machining of cams on the basis of feeding speed of a grindstone set independently for both cams on the suction side and the exhaust side. CONSTITUTION:A cam machining program, the moving index program of a table 17 and the feeding speed data of a suction side cam Wa and an exhaust side cam Wb are stored in a memory 44 from an input device 49. And the table 17 is traversed according to the table moving index program, and the most leftward cam Wa faces a grindstone 12 and the most leftward master cam 19a faces a follower roller 31. And it is judged which cam of Wa or Wb faces the grindstone 12 on the program, and when the cam Wa faces, pulses are distributed from a pulse distributor 45 into a drive circuit 41 at an interval according to the feeding speed data on the suction side, and a grindstone table 11 is progressed at a desired feeding speed to machine to cam Wa. The cam Wb is also machined similarly.
