PURPOSE:To execute the simultaneous recording of plural PCM sound signals by extracting successively repeatedly the PCM sound signal of an optional channel from plural PCM encoders every plural segment periods, and providing the control means to supply to the rotating head. CONSTITUTION:When the rotating head of the first channel scans the first segment track ST1 of a recording track TRa, simultaneously, a rotating head H2 of the second channel scans the sixth segment ST6 of a recording track TRb. Consequently, at the first - the sixth segment tracks of the recording track TRa, by the timing of area control signals T1-T6, the PCM sound signal of the first - the sixth track channels is respectively recorded in time division, and at the first - the sixth segment tracks of a recording track TR2, by the timing of area control signals T2-T6 and T1, the PCM sound signal of the first - th sixth track channels are respectively recorded by the time division. Thus, the PCM sound signal of the optional channel can be simultaneously recorded to the tape.
