PURPOSE:To provide the heat exchanger without necessitating lining work of castable by a method wherein an inner shell is arranged on an outer shell, heat transfer tubes, penetrating through the inner shelll and opening in heat exchanging area and non-heat exchanging area, are arranged, fluid to be heated is supplied between the outer and inner shells and heating fluid is supplied into the inner shell. CONSTITUTION:One ends of a multitude of heat transfer tubes 21, which penetrate through the inner shell 16, are opened in the heat exchanging area 12a of the outer shell 12 while the other ends thereof are opened in the non-heat exchanging area 12b. The fluid to be heated, which is introduced into the heat exchanging area 12a of the outer shell 12 through an intake port 24, passes through a gap betwen the outer shell 12 and the inner shell 16 and is taken out of a take-out port 25. On the other hand, the heating fluid, introduced into the inner shell 16 through the intake port 22, provides the fluid to be heated with the heat thereof during passing through the multiple heat transfer tubes 21 and the temperature of the fluid itself is reduced by the amount of deprived heat, thereafter, is taken out of the take-out port 23. The heating fluid will never touch directly with the outer shell and the outside of the inner shell is covered by the fluid to be heated, therefore, lining of castable on the inner surface of the inner shell may not be necessitated.
