The two-directional guiding of the plate (platen) 7 with respect to the bed 19 is ensured by: - a primary guiding element comprising: - a movable primary beam 29, - two series of primary lateral runners 33, 34, 30, 35, 36, for guiding, located on either side; - a coupling element with shaft 25 fastened onto the primary beam 29; and - a secondary guiding element, comprising: - a movable secondary beam 37, - and two series of secondary lateral runners 41, 42, 43, 44, for guiding, located on either side and fastened onto the coupling element 25. The plate (platen) 7 is securely attached to the secondary beam 37. The invention is particularly advantageous for the production of a machine-tool cross table. <IMAGE>
