PURPOSE:A skin external agent, containing a lipid mixture extracted from an animal cell with an organic solvent as an active constituent, having water holding function, capable of exhibiting improved effect on diseases caused by drying, e.g. chaps or cracks, and useful particularly for a cosmetic. CONSTITUTION:A skin external agent containing a lipid mixture extracted from animal cells of a mammal, e.g. cattle or horse, or a bird, e.g. domestic fowl or quail, with an organic solvent and having skin water holding function as an active constituent. The above-mentioned mixture is a light yellow - yellow wax or solid substance, and found to contain lipid, e.g. sphingomyelin, glycolipid, e.g. cerebroside, and cholesterol, etc., as constituent principal components and further very small amounts of polysaccharide, protein, salt, etc., by the thin-layer chromatography. EFFECT:The blocking property is good, and moisture content in the keratinous layer can be kept for a long period. The agent is used for a cosmetic capable of preventing the aging of the skin or imparting touch, e.g. moisture or smoothness, beautifulness of external appearance, etc., to the skin. |
