PURPOSE:To obtain inorganic oxide fibers having a reduced amount of fibers with collapsed shape and high strength, by regulating both temperature and humidity of a fiber-forming atmosphere of a spinning stock solution of refractory inorganic oxide fiber. CONSTITUTION:The spinning stock solution 1 of refractory inorganic oxide fibers is extruded from the spinning nozzle 3 in the spinning chamber towards the fiber collecting chamber 4 and air at 1-20 deg.C is made to flow to the vicinity of the spinning nozzle 3 through the device 6 to control temperature, water content, etc. Air at >=30 deg.C at <=30% relative humidity is jetted from the warm air blower 10 set in front of the wind tunnel 7 of the collecting chamber 4 and the air flow in the vicinity of the fiber collecting screen 8 is adjusted to >=25 deg.C temperature and <=30% relative humidity.
