STRUCTURE OF EXIT END OF OPTICAL FIBER

PURPOSE:To ease an operation without spoiling the flexibility of an optical fiber by using a shape memory alloy for the cover at a laser exit end and opening and closing the cover by the effect of the laser power itself. CONSTITUTION:The cover 4 for opening and closing the exit end made of the shape memory alloy is fixed to the exit end of the optical fiber 1. The cover is held closed while a temp. is low. The cover opens at a high temp. Exit laser light 5 irradiates the rear surface of the cover 3 when the laser light is irradiated from the exit end. This laser light has the considerable powder and part of the laser light is reflected by the rear surface of the cover 3. The balance is absorbed by said surface. The absorbed light sharply elevates the temp. of the cover 3 and therefore an open/shut cap part 12 opens from a parting line 13.
