摘要 PURPOSE:To decrease the loss of the light and to improve the reflecting ratio by having a liquid crystal cell facing a pair of substrates with the surface having the electrode to the inside, and a ferroelectric liquid crystal having a non-volatile memory action between substrates and the layer to reflect the light. CONSTITUTION:An optical disk has a pair of opposing substrates 3 and substrates 7, one side opposing substrates 3 are at least translucent, and further, inside a pair of substrates, has a pair of electrodes 4 and 6. An opposing electrode 4 has a translucent characteristic, the electrode 6 has a reflecting characteristic, the orientating processing is executed to one side of a pair of electrodoes, the non-orientating processing is executed to other side, and an FLC 5 is charged between the electrodes. The periphery of the optical disk is sealed 30 and 30' so that an FLC cannot contact with the air, and the optical disk has electrodes 32 and 32' for the external contact to extend from a pair of electrodes 4 and 7 inside 10. Thus, the reflecting ratio can be highly kept, a non-volatile characteristic is obtained and the energy saving can be executed.
