In the case of a permanent-magnet-energized commutator motor, a number of magnetic constrictions (16) corresponding to the number of permanent magnet poles (14) are provided in order to achieve a series-wound characteristic in the magnetic return path ring (13), which magnetic constrictions (16) are arranged mutually offset by a pole pitch such that they are located approximately in the zones of the magnetic return path ring (13) which are free of any field when the motor is starting (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
