Cleaning device for removing dust containing ammonium sulphate and adhering to the heat transfer surfaces of a rotating regenerative heat exchanger for preheating combustion air by heat exchange with exhaust gases. The device exhibits a high-pressure rinsing or scrubbing water nozzle and a gas spray nozzle, which are arranged at least on one side of the heat transfer body of the heat exchanger, the nozzles being designed in such a way that the gas bubble nozzle sprays steam, air or a similar gas and lies behind the place at which high-pressure scrubbing water is applied by a high-pressure scrubbing water nozzle, the dust particles being removed during the work of the heat exchanger.
