PURPOSE:To easily produce iron powder having a low apparent density at a high yield by introducing the iron powder cake after the finishing reduction of the raw material iron powder into a crushing chamber and rotating hammers having the crushing surfaces formed to a proper width thereby impulsively crushing and disintegrating the cake. CONSTITUTION:The iron powder cake obtd. by the finishing reduction of the raw material iron powder is introduced through a raw material introducing port 2 into the crushing chamber 1. The many hammers 3 having the crushing surfaces formed to <=10mm width W are rotated to impulsively crush and disintegrated the above-mentioned iron powder cake. The generation of pulverous powder is thereby suppressed and the iron powder having the low apparent density is obtd. The iron powder is taken out of many openings 5 provided to a grate part 4 and is ejected from a discharge port 6.
