PURPOSE:To attain simplified constitution and to discriminate surely the end of transmission of a message by detecting that a telephone line reaches a prescribed electric state during the recording of the message from a caller so as to detect on-hook of the caller thereby discriminating the end of recording in a telephone automatic response system using an IC memory as a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A detection circuit 35 discriminates a reply message and an identification code when the identification code is sent from a caller while a replay message to the caller is sent.That is, a reference value corresponding respectively to a frequency signal (digital signal) sent when the caller operates each numeric key of a telephone set is stored in the inside and the reply message and the dial signal are discriminated depending whether the count outputted from counter circuits 33, 34 is coincident with the reference value or not. When the dial signal is discriminated, the detection circuit 35 outputs a gate pulse to a gate circuit 36.
