The haymaking machine for the tedding, turning and swathing of grass or hay lying on the ground has a machine frame and at least one rotary work unit which is mounted on the machine frame so as to be rotatable by means of a drive about a vertical axis of rotation inclinable slightly forwards relative to the ground plane in the direction of travel and which comprises a hub, to which are attached a plurality of tine arms oriented in a radiating manner relative to the axis of rotation and carrying helical-spring tines at their outer ends. The tine arms each comprise two parts which can be folded by means of an inner and outer joint and which assume an aligned extended position for tedding and turning work and can be transferred into an approximately Z-shaped folded position for swathing work. At the same time, the axis of the inner joint and the axis of the outer joint respectively form, with an imaginary reference plane extending perpendicularly to the axis of rotation of the rotary work unit below the joints, an acute angle which opens in the direction of rotation of the rotary work unit.
