PURPOSE:To enable ordinary text printing mixed with graphic printing to be performed in substantially the same period of time as that required for ordinary text printing, by a construction wherein the number of recording elements on a printing head is increased in a paper-feeding direction in such a range that printing in line space can be simultaneously performed. CONSTITUTION:A one-line amount of space in the paper-feeding direction in text printing is covered by the range of arrangement of the recording elements (printing wires) 200 provided on the printing head 100 of a printer. The number of the wires 200 on the head 100 is not varied with the pitch in the paper-feeding direction. For example, a 9-pin system is reformed into a 12-pin system, a 8-pin system is reformed into a 24-pin system, and a 24-pin system is reformed into a 30-pin or 32-pin system. Accordingly, superscripts, subscripts and arbitrary graphics can be simultaneously printed in space parts between the current line and the adjacent line in a well-balanced form, and throughput in graphic printing and in mixed printing of a text and graphics is markedly enhanced. |
