In an assay which involves incubating a sample of a body fluid with a reagent labelled with an enzyme, results may be affected by the presence in the sample of an inhibitor for the enzyme. These are overcome by including in the incubation mixture a correction factor to block the action of any inhibitor in the sample. If the enzyme is horseradish peroxidase (HRP), the correction factor may be apo-HRP, an acidic HRP isoenzyme or a carboxymethylated HRP enzyme. The invention is well adapted to enhanced luminescence immunoassays for haptens and antigens.
|
