Sewage sludge is conditioned and sanitised in a reactor for heat treatment, a digestion tank for the heat treated sludge and at least three concentric chambers for the preheating of the reactor charge and cool/degasify the discharge. The inlets to the outer and middle chamber are tangential to achieve a circulating motion. The outer chamber is joined at one end through one of the pumps and at the other end through a pipe leading to the central chamber to form a closed circuit.
