Folding ruler having articulated plates (4, 5) fastened to the link ends, the overlapping link ends of two adjacent ruler links (1, 2, 3) being connected to one another at their link plates by means of a link rivet (10). In order with the ruler folded to permit as large as possible a closed surface for the application of advertising impressions to the stacked sides of the links, but at the same time to keep the overall height and the weight of the ruler as low as possible, the first and last link (1, 3), respectively, located at the start and at the end, respectively, of the folding ruler has a lesser link thickness than the other ruler links (2), into which ruler links the link plates (4, 5) are sunk approximately by the thickness of their material. <IMAGE>
