PURPOSE:To secure sufficient visibility without the needs for ribbon guide by providing a transparent ribbon guide wall having a printing port for the type wheel cassette by positioning it in front of the type wheel. CONSTITUTION:A type wheel 13 is inserted between an upper case 11 on the front side and a lower case 12 on the back side. A recessed portion 14 is formed by projected portions 15 on the upper end of left and right sides of the lower case 12, and a transparent ribbon guide wall 16 is formed in front of the type wheel 13. The surface of the wall 16 is leveled with the surface of the upper case, by which a ribbon 17 at the lifting position A and the down position B is guided. At the center of the wall 16, a printing port 18 through which types 13a to be struck by hammers are passed is formed. The visibility of the printing face can thus be sufficiently secured, the exchanging operation of the type wheel and ribbon can be made easier, and the reduction of parts number and miniaturization and reliability of the carriage can be attained and raised.
