In the case of the process for producing a supporting surface (9), arched in a convex manner, of a running-path rail (6) having at least one rectilinear running path (10) for loaded rolling-contact elements, the running-path rail (6) or a rotating grinding wheel (15) or the like is fastened on a slide of a machining unit. The slide is moved back and forth in a rectilinear direction (16) of motion, with the result that the supporting surface is machined by the grinding wheel (15). In order that the supporting surface (9) can also be produced with longitudinal arching, the running-path rail (6) is first of all turned, about a vertical axis (19) perpendicular to the fastening plane (12), through a small angle (+ beta ) in one direction and machined, and is then turned, about said vertical axis, through the same small angle (- beta ) in the other direction and machined. <IMAGE>
