PURPOSE:To improve visibility by arranging many segment electrodes for bar display in one row along a display scale and successively impressing voltage to these segment electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal driving circuit 23 successively impresses the voltage between the segment electrodes 20... on the side where the speed scale is small and a common electrode 21 by the calculation signal from a microcomputer 24 when the traveling speed of a motor bicycle increases. Then the bar display of the black ground corresponding to the shape of the electrodes 20... is made on the display plane of the white background. If the speed increases from the order of 10km/h to the order of 20km/h, the bar display is made by the segment electrode 20' but overall length is longer than the electrodes 20... which already marks the bar display on the electrode 20' and in addition an extension part 26 extending on the upper side of the electrodes 20... is provided and therefore the bar display on the display plane spreads to the part displaying the order of 10km/h. Therefore the display area of the bar sharply increases at every increase of the vehicle speed by 10km/h, by which the bar display is stressed.
