PURPOSE:To produce a spheroidal graphite cast iron having high strength and toughness with high productivity by heat treating spheroidal graphite cast iron under specified conditions and subjecting it to isothermal transformation when the cast iron is austempered. CONSTITUTION:When the spheroidal graphite cast iron is austempered, it is heated, held at 850-930 deg.C for 10-120min, further held at 800-830 deg.C for 10-60min and subjected to desired isothermal transformation to form a bainite structure. High strength spheroidal graphite cast iron can be produced in large quantities with a small amount of heat for heat treatment at a low installation cost.
