A description is given of a microscope (10) with a drive device (26), having at least one adjusting device (24), for coarse and/or fine height adjustment of an object stage (12) with respect to a microscope objective (22), the object stage (12) being mounted on the stand of the microscope (10) having a baseplate (16) such that it can be displaced in a guide device (28). In this case, the drive device (26) is arranged in the region between the microscope objective (22) and the guide device (28) between the baseplate (16) and the object stage (12). Similarly, the adjusting device (24) can be arranged in the region between the microscope objective and the guide device (28) on the baseplace (16) of the microscope stand. <IMAGE>
