PURPOSE:To decrease the thickness of a disc drive device by providing an engaging part which engages in the groove of a cartridge only when it is inserted with its specified facing in the cartridge, loading the cartridge using the said engaging part. CONSTITUTION:When the cartridge 3 is inserted in a cartridge insertion inlet 7d of a holder 7, the inclined part 3f formed in a part of a front edge part 3c abuts on the inclined part 30b of a jointer 30, and the cartridge 3 is set in the specific position. The jointer 30 rotates clockwise around a spindle 30c, the tip part 30a of the jointer 30 protruding to the side from a through-groove 7g of the holder 7 engages in the engaging groove 3a of the cartridge 3, and the cartridge 3 is made able to be loaded to the direction of turntable. If the cartridge 3 is inserted with a wrong side in front, a rear part 3g abuts on the part 30b, and the jointer 30 is pushed to move clockwise. Consequently, the part 30a is disabled to engage, then the loading is disabled.
