PURPOSE:To simplify the control system of a turbine compressor by fitting two impellers and one turbine runner on a common single shaft and adopting single-shaft and 2-stage compression and 1-stage expansion type. CONSTITUTION:A first stage compressor 1, a second stage compressor 2 and a turbine 3 are connected to one another on a common single shaft 4. For the control of a turbine compressor so constituted, therefore, it will do if the speed of the turbine 3 and the volume of compressed air from the discharge port 2b of the second stage compressor 2 are controlled mainly, and the control system becomes very simple. Also, stable operation is possible and a stress working on an impeller can be lessened through two-stage compression, thereby improving mechanical stability.
