A rolling bearing for a high-speed gas turbine engine comprises support segments (28) between each rolling element (10). Each segment is provided with an end surface (30) having an upstream end (32) and a downstream end (34) which confronts a rolling element (10) and is spaced therefrom by an amount which reduces from a maximum at the upstream end to a minimum at the downstream end. End members restrict the axial movement of the elements (10). The end portion of each element (10) is divided into alternately sloping and flat segments to form an air support cushion with the confronting face of the respective end member. <IMAGE> |
