RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE CONSISTING OF VERTICALLY MAGNETIZED RIGID DISK

PURPOSE:To provide the resolving power that a vertically magnetized rigid disk possesses to the max. extent by relatively moving the vertically magnetized rigid disk and magnetic head apart at the spaced distance unavoidably generated when the disk and head are brought into or tried to be brought into contact with each other. CONSTITUTION:The recording density in the case of the vertically magnetized rigid disk exponential-functionally increases with a decrease in the floating height of the magnetic head. Since the disk and magnetic head are moved relatively with each other, about <=0.03mum spaced distance is generated unavoidably between the magnetic head and the vertically magnetized rigid disk even if the disk and head are tried to be brought into contact with each other. However the spaced distance is of a slight value and therefore the floating height can be regarded substantially h1=0mum, at which the excellent recording and reproducing characteristics as well as recording density characteristic are obtd. The vertically magnetized rigid disk constituted by forming a high magnetic permeability layer 2 on the surface of a rigid base body 1 and forming a vertical anisotropic film 3 on the layer 2 is usable.
