METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING HIGH-STRENGTH WROUGHT MAGNESIUM ALLOY BY CONDUCTING AGING TREATMENT PRIOR TO PLASTIC WORKING AND HIGH-STRENGTH WROUGHT MAGNESIUM ALLOY MANUFACTURED THEREBY

The present invention relates to a method to manufacture a high-strength wrought magnesium alloy comprising: (a) a step of preparing a magnesium alloy billet; (b) a step of homogenization heat treating the magnesium alloy billet; (c) a step of age treating the homogenization heat treated magnesium alloy billet; and (d) a step of hot working or warm working the age treated magnesium alloy billet. According to the present invention, a large amount of fine secondary phase precipitates is formed in a magnesium alloy grain boundary and a base by pre-age treatment (aging treatment prior to the plastic working after the homogenization heat treatment). The precipitates hinder the crystal growth of dynamically recrystallized grains formed in the plastic working process; thereby the high-strength wrought magnesium alloy being able to be manufactured by not only a precipitation hardening effect, but also a strength improvement effect obtained by grain refinement.
