PURPOSE:To obtain a thin and light high performance piston having low thermal stess suitable for high performance Diesel engine by providing such mechanism as balancing the outer pressure of piston crown with its inner pressure. CONSTITUTION:Combustion pressure Po will function to the outercircumference of piston crown 1 while inner pressure Pi produced from the inner piston 2 and the inner liner 5 will function to the inside. The difference between said pressures Po and Pi is compensated by the piston crown 1 and the spring 3. Cooling oil passed through the hollow section of inner piston 2 will flow into the piston crown 1 only during the timing when the cooling oil flow-in port 7 of spool 6 is communicated with the cooling oil flow-in port 8 at the inner piston side 2 slidable against said port 7. Thereafter, the cooling oil will pass through the gap between the inner liner 5, cooling oil delivery port 9 and cooling oil delivery port 10 at the inner piston side 2 to be controlled through cooling oil delivery regulation valve 11. |
