CONTROLLER FOR MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To detect a tracking error information with excellent S/N by disposing pilot signals of two different frequencies so as to be no neighboring each other and by recording the said signals in a dedicated part of the track secured in the longitudinal direction of the track. CONSTITUTION:The pilot signals f1 and f2 are recorded in an area P in the overlap part Q1 of a tape having a video-signal recording area V for a time of two times of the amount of disalignment tau of tracks at track-end in a manner the signals do not neighbor each other. Reproduced signals are supplied to envelope-detecting circuits 27 and 28 via tank circuits 25 and 26 having the resonance frequencies f1 and f2 of a tracking controller, and the detection output of the pilot signal f2 from the both neighboring tracks is supplied to sample- holding circuits 41 and 42 through the switching of a switch circuit 29. The outputs from the circuits 41 and 42 become respectively the holding values of the cross-talk amounts of the signal f2 from the upper and lower neighboring tracks. The output differential-voltage signal from a differential amplifier 43 is switched by a pulse from a discrimination circuit 35, and is outputted as the tracking error signal.
