PURPOSE:To access an object track in high speed by releasing a lens track means so as to select the tracking state when a track cross speed reaches a proper value or below after coarse access. CONSTITUTION:A supervisory means supervising a cross speed of a light spot crossing a track of a disc just before the coarse access by a voice coil motor is finished is provided, and after the coarse access is finished, when the detection speed of the supervisory means 21 reaches a prescribed value or below, the lens clamp means activated at the coarse access is released by a timing logic circuit 23. Thus, the vibration of the objective lens 15 at the end of coarse access is suppressed effectively to attain the access to the object track in a short time.
