PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity, to improve the relationship between sensitivity and fog, to widen exposure latitude, to enhance graininess and sharpness, and sensitivity to green color by sensitizing specified silver halide grains with a specified sensitizing dye. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide photographic sensitive material contains negative type silver halide grains each composed of an inner core made substantially of silver bromide and/or iodobromide, and plural outer shells made of silver bromide and/or iodobromide surrounding the inner core. Silver iodide is contained in the outermost shell in an amount of <=10mol%, a sheel higher in the iodide content than the outermost shell by >=6mol% is formed in the inner part of the outer shells, and an intermediate shell higher in the iodide content than the outermost shell by >=3mol% and lower than said high iodide layer by >=3mol% is formed between both shells, and the silver halide grains are sensitized with at least one of the sensitizing dyes represented by formula I and II. |
