FIBER OPTIC CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY

A selectively mateable connector system for mating a fiber optic connector assembly (12) to another circuit member (14). The fiber optic connector assembly is in the form of an electrical plug having an outer cover (66) which houses an optic electronic device (16) having a lens (28) which is adapted to receive the end of an optic fiber (18) in close proximity and in alignment therewith. A single unitary body member (20) is provided within the cover for receiving and mounting the optoelectronic device (16) and the optic fiber (18) in mating relationship. Terminal means (32) connected to the optoelectronic device are selectively and electrically mateable with connector pins (60) extending from the cover to be selectively and electrically mated and unmated with the other circuit member which is in the form of a socket having female terminals (80).
