PURPOSE:To ensure uniform spread of an ink and obtain clear images, by constituting a printing assistant layer of a coloring agent having a tone the same as or similar to that of a coloring agent used in an ink layer and a sticky resin which is party as normal temperature. CONSTITUTION:A heat-fusible ink layer 2 and the printing assistant layer 1 are provided on a base 3 of the thermal transfer medium. The layer 1 consists of a coloring agent having a tone which is the same as or similar to that of a coloring agent used in the ink layer 2 and a sticky resin which is pasty at normal temperature. When a predetermined part of the medium is heated according to a recording signal which is externally supplied, the assistant layer 1 corresponding to the predetermined part is softened, the ink layer 2 corresponding to the predetermined part is melted to mix with the softened assistant layer 1, and the mixed material is separated from the base 3. Even on mixing of the assistant layer 1 with the ink layer 2, color is little changed. Accordingly, even where the surface of a transfer recording paper is rugged, the ink can be uniformly transferred onto the paper, and favorable image quality can be obtained. |
