PURPOSE:To obtain high-quality thermal transfer recording even for recording mediums having rough surface by a method in which a supersonic vibrator is attached to a thermal recording head to give supersonic wave energy to an ink ribbon and the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:In the thermal recording head 13 of the thermal transfer recorder, a surface layer 19 is formed on a ceramic base plate 14, and an ink ribbon 12 and a recording medium 11 are put between the surface layer 19 and a back plate 10. A horn 16 to transmit vibration from a supersonic vibrator element 15 is fixed to the back side of the head 13. The head 13 and the supersonic vibrator 17 move along the surface of the medium 11 for thermal transfer recording. When recording mediums of rough surface are used, supersonic wave energy is given to the ribbon 12 and the medium 11, whereupon molten ink 22 is adhered to even inside of the uneven portions of the surface of the medium 11. High-quality thermal transfer recording of high transferring rate an thus be obtained. |
