PURPOSE:To replenish and fill a molten steel into a shrinkage cavity region during the process of solidification and to improve yield by reheating the molten steel filled in a riser part by using a high-frequency coil installed around an exothermic heat insulating sleeve in the riser part. CONSTITUTION:The exothermic heat insulating sleeve 2 is installed, in the same manner as in the conventional practice, to the part of the riser 7 and the high-frequency coil 11 is simultaneously molded around the same. For example, a flexer A10 type is sprinkled as a heat insulating material 13 to the riser 7 surface right after the end of the casting operation and thereafter the riser 7 part is heated by high-frequency induction heating to replenish and fill the molten steel in the shrinkage cavity region. Grounding from the metallic mold is necessary to prevent electric current leakage. Such method is approximately equal to the conventional hot top method but has the advantage of eliminating entirely the generation of carburization.
