<p>A novel cationic polycondensation prod. comprises (A) the reaction prod. of (a) a mono- or polyfunctional amine having one or more prim. and/or sec. and/or tert. amino gps. with (b) cyanamide, dicyandiamine, guanidine or biguanide, up to 50 mol.% of any of these cpds. being replaceable with a dicarboxylic acid or its mono- or di-ester; in presence of a catalyst; (k) the prod. (A) contg. at least one H atom linked to a N atom, or (B) the reaction prod. of (A) with (c) an N-methylolated deriv. of a urea, a melamine, a guanamine, a triazine, a urone, a urethane or an acid amine, or (d) an epihalohydrin or one of its precursors, or (e) formaldehyde or a cpd. releasing HCHOm or (c) the reaction prod. of (A) with (d) and (c) or with (e) and (c) . Pref. (a) is an amine of formula (I) or a polyalkylene-polyamine of formula (II) R=H or 1-10C alkyl opt. substd. by OH, CN or 1-4C alkoxy; n=0-100; Z=2-4C alkylene or 2-4C hydroxyalkylene, each Z being independent when n is greater than O X=-O-, -S- or -NR-(R=as above) and each X is indep. when n is greater than 1 (II) contains at least one -NH- or -NH2- reactive gp.</p> |
