A draw box for use with an apparatus for applying marking strips of cold-setting dye compositions on roadway surfaces in which draw box additionally to the slide attached to the bottom and slidable in the longitudinal direction the rear closing wall of the draw box, as seen in the direction of travel of the apparatus, provided with a slide slidable in the vertical direction. The draw box permits the application of marking strips having corrugated thickenings extending transversely at regular intervals. This has the result that even in the partially worn-down state and in heavy rain the markings remain properly visible to the drivers of vehicles at night.
