PURPOSE:A hair cosmetic capable of providing the hair with improved softness without causing greasiness on the hair at every point of time during application, rinsing, drying and after drying, containing a specific quaternary ammonium salt, a specific higher alcohol and a specific oil in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:The title hair cosmetic containing (A) one or more quaternary ammonium salts shown by the formula (R1 is 14-22C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; R2-R4 are 1-3C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl or benzyl; X is halogen or 1-2C alkyl sulfate group), (B) a higher alcohol containing preferably two or more 14-22C straight-chain alkyl groups and (C) an oil component having <=28dne/cm/25 deg.C surface tension and <=200cS/25 deg.C viscosity. The amount of the component A is 0.1-5.0wt% based on total amount of the hair cosmetic, a molar ratio of the component B/A is 4-15, especially 4-5 and a weight ratio of the components (A+C)/C is 0.5-5, especially 0.2-3.
