Oscillation damper for railway vehicle

The damper has a torsion spring to extend transverse of the wagon body and supported to enable the spring to be torsionally tensioned and ends of the spring displaced longitudinally of the body. A lever is fixed to each end of the spring and extends transverse to it. A linkage extends between the ends of the spring to cause movement of the ends in opposite directions longitudinally of the body upon movement of one of the ends longitudinally of the body. - A shock absorber is attached to the ends of the spring and to be fixed to the body to inhibit movement of the ends. A coupling is attached to each lever and to the undercarriage (19) so that upon angular displacement of the undercarriage relative to the body, a force is applied to the levers to cause tensioning of the spring and/or movement of the ends of the spring longitudinally.
